Give me something to sing about..

It occurred to me (*rolls eyes* yes I am slow) - I used to hate Whedon too. And that Buffy is the only fictional series that's ever made me cry because almost every third episode used to be fraught with heartbreak and gut-wrenching angst (and I was younger and more susceptible of course ;-p) I think what gets me with SPN is the implied hopelessness. Buffy never felt 'hopeless', no matter how bad things got. At least that's not how I remember it, and hopefully it won't be what I remember of SPN when it ends either. Oh well, let's see. OMG Eric Johnson next week!!! The Winchesters had better not hurt him, too much, heh ;)

I used to love this song, it's from the Buffy Musical episode:

Life's a show, and we all play our parts
And when the music starts, we open up our hearts.
It's alright if some things come out wrong,
we'll sing a happy song, and you can sing along.

Where there's life, there's hope, everyday's a gift, wishes can come true, whistle while you work, so hard, all day..

To be like other girls,
To fit in in this glittering world!
Don't give me songs. Don't give me songs.
Give me something to sing about. I need something to sing about.

Life's a song you don't get to rehearse,
And every single verse, can make it that much worse.
Still my friends don't know why I ignore,
the million things or more, I should be dancing for.

All the joy life sends, family and friends, all the twists and bends, knowing that it ends.
Well, that depends..

On if they let you go, on if they know enough to know.
That when you bowed, you leave the crowd..
So give me something to sing about!
Please, Give me something!

***

Life's not a song, Life isn't bliss,
Life is just this. It's living.
You'll get along,
The pain that you feel, only can heal, by living.
You have to go on living.
So one of us is living.

I think that's why I'm missing the first season so much. Even the second and third seasons. Even with all the crap happening with Sammy they were still fairly light-hearted about life. That's why I love it so much when they have silly little side trips, like this week's episode, Fallen Idols, The Curious Case of Dean Winchester, and The Real Ghostbusters because it goes back to that light-heartedness they had in the beginning. Also? Any parts with Cas drunk/stoned and not understanding modern things is epic win on it's own. :D

Thats one of the things I love about Whedon, as horrible (hee~) his shows get's there's always this hope or songs or happiness about them. Like the lives of his characters is just one big black comedy.

with Kripke. it's more like: WILL THE WORKD END... I DUNNO. BUT IN THE MEANTIME, LET'S WATCH DEAN CRY. :D

let's just hope our boys get a musical episode
