User Rep election turned into Anti-fandom war :(

Hey guys,

Have you voted for the User Representative on the LJ Advisory board? It's just been turned into an ugly anti-fandom drive by one of the candidates (

Urge you to please PLEASE go here and Cast your Vote if you haven't done it already. Do read the profiles of all candidates running before you do. I personally voted for the 3 candidates who are also active members of fandom -

legomymalfoy ,

rm and

vichan in that order.

legomymalfoy has experience working with the LJ support and abuse groups, has an established rapport with the LJ staff, as well as the respect of everyone in fandom. Her LJ is locked right now because of the massive attacks

jameth and his gang are attempting to launch at her.

Whoever your candidate of choice may be, please don't let it be that anti-fandom asshole. Go on people - VOTE VOTE VOTE!

After reading legomymalfoy's statement and hearing her idea's i've got to say that all in all she's the better candidate and I'm really pulling for her to win.

Although really, fandom shouldn't really have anything to do with how lj is run. Even if we do own it.

What I don't understand is why everyones making such a big stink about her being on the abuse team. Yes they fucked up with the strike out, but she's part of fandom too! She was just as much at risk as the rest of us.

They're clutching at straws sweetie. I personally think its a good thing she has this rapport with LJ. The wank is under the assumption that interests of Abuse team will always oppose interests of users. But I think there was so much more damage the abuse team could have done to fandom during the strikethrough, but that didn't happen. I'd like to believe LMM's opinions and inputs might have had something to do with it.

I had a read of the profiles and I came up with the same candidates as you :). Legomymalfoy seems like a level headed person as is rm :). Legomymalfoy had me when she said she's not wanting to be on the advisory board to push forward her agenda. A neutral player is good to have. Thank you sweetie for providing the links :D

Same here! That's the first thing that jumped out at me because while I want someone on the board to "understand" us, I don't necessarily need them to push our agenda.. *shrugs*. I don't see a need for that. But having an obnoxious antisocial element like jameth on that post would be very very bad for us. So I'm glad LMM is winning :)

Definitely, people who are on advisory boards need to be open minded and not judgmental. It is good that she's leading :).

Haha.. thanks hon :) I wasn't making a big deal about it until that camp started making attacks on LMM. Now I'm convinced we must do everything possible to keep him out of any positions of power or influence whatsoever. Hell I'm not even sure how much power and influence the user rep will have in the first place. But I'm sure HE doesn't deserve it.
