What a vibrant picture you paint us here! It is touching and detailed and colorful yet at the same time somehow heartbreaking. Everything rings so true.

And Dean still looked after him… still fixed his lunch and shampooed his hair and cut it when it got long enough to keep from falling over his eyes. Still pushed him on the swing and helped him finish the puzzle of the Taj Mahal. Read Moby Dick to him at bedtime and reminded him when his favorite TV shows were on if he forgot himself, which was often.
This part struck me, because this is most likely how everything went in canon too. Dean truly was Sam's caretaker in every way that counted to Sam. Dean was his whole world. They were such a symbiotic unit that even after they grew up and Sam left in an attempt to shed it and to become his own man, that they fall back to that bond quickly after reuniting, because it simply is an integral part of the identities of both.

Oh yes. You have me hooked in this verse. :)

I love your little Sammy. All wide eyed and confused about the changes in Dean. And I love the way that you wrote Dean through Sam's eyes. How their father was almost peripheral in terms of raising Sam, because Dean took care of everything that was really important to Sam. I can't wait to read more of this.
